Martijn Dendievel started as assistant conductor at Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen in spring 2018. From the 2023–24 season, Dendievel will continue his assistantship with the orchestra as 'associate conductor'. During this period, he will focus on the works of Dvořák. From January 13–19, 2022, he conducts Rosanne Philippens [violin], Flanders Symphony Orchestra conducted by Martijn Dendievel as his first independent production with the orchestra.
Since 2018, the orchestra has given Martijn Dendievel the opportunity to learn and grow, gain experience, and master the various aspects of conducting. As 'associate conductor', Dendievel remains responsible for several talent development projects, including the youth orchestra SOV Young. Additionally, starting in the 2023–24 season, he will lead three consecutive concert productions centered on the symphonic works of Antonín Dvořák.
Martijn Dendievel has been making waves for some time, also internationally. Among his most important recent achievements are: winner of our Golden Debut Label (2020), winner of the Deutscher Dirigentenpreis from the German Music Council (2021); first prize at the Conductors' Academy organized by the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and Paavo Järvi (2021); placement in the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam (taking place in 2022). In early 2022, he announced joining the internationally renowned agency IMG Artists.
From January 13–19, 2022, Martijn Dendievel conducts Rosanne Philippens [violin], Flanders Symphony Orchestra conducted by Martijn Dendievel, his first official production as an independent conductor with Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen. He does so alongside Dutch star violinist Rosanne Philippens at Concertgebouw Bruges, Muziekcentrum De Bijloke Ghent, DE SINGEL Antwerp, and Stadsschouwburg Kortrijk. The program features Dvořák's 9th Symphony alongside works by Korngold and Janssens.
