In Polen is de componiste en violiste Grażyna Bacewicz (1909-1969) alom bekend. Maar in België, waar ze bij de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd en in Luik nochtans prijzen won, verdween ze bijna helemaal uit beeld. Het Pools-Belgische Karski Quartet brengt haar toegankelijke, energieke muziek opnieuw naar het publiek met een cd en concerten op onder meer het Leuvense Festival 20•21 (samen met pianist Brecht Valckenaers). Dat doen ze niet uit vaderlandsliefde of genderbewustzijn, maar ‘gewoon omdat haar werk fantastisch is’.
