Spira Mirabilis is a research and composition project launched in 2009, devoted to the solo instrument with or without electronics. All aspects — from formal processes to syntactic elements, to the idiomatic language — revolve around the concept of the spiral, both as a mathematical representation and as inspiration and aesthetic speculation.
Spirals become formal metaphors for various musical gestures, particularly in terms of timbre and direction, which, through the reading and rereading of the sound material, guide the listener into a dimension of ceaseless exploration, as suggested by the Latin phrase eadem mutata resurgo — exploring the many labyrinths of the psyche, ego, consciousness, mind, and the act of being oneself.
