In March, during International Women's Week, Poems of Love – Delightful Creations by Female Composers premieres, a performance by the chamber music ensemble Triotique. This trio, consisting of Elke Elsen (flute), Frauke Elsen (vocals, oboe) and Margot Welleman (piano), has been specializing for several years in performing works by women. For this concert series, they joined forces with Veerle Janssens, author of the book Woman at the Piano, who will tie it all together with touching stories and anecdotes about the composers.
On the unique program stands exclusively work by women, ranging from the 19th and 20th-century Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Pauline Viardot-García, Amy Beach, Mélanie Bonis and Nadia Boulanger, to contemporary artists Alyssa Morris and Annelies Van Parys. From this latter Flemish composer Triotique brings the premiere of Blake Fragments, a work for flute, oboe, mezzo-soprano and piano that she specially composed for the ensemble.
