This spring, MATRIX [Centre for New Music] is putting together an exhibition around Luc Brewaeys.
Brewaeys (Mortsel 1959-Antwerpen 2015) studied composition, piano and conducting with André Laporte in Brussel and attended summer courses with Franco Donatoni in Siena (Italy) and Brian Ferneyhough in Darmstadt (Germany). From 1980 to 84 he had regular contact with Greek composer Iannis Xenakis. He was also a conductor, pianist and music director at the VRT. Klara named him "musician of the year" in 2013.
The Leuven University Library provides a unique setting for a journey of discovery through the stories and music of this fascinating composer. In the next newsletter we will lift the veil a little, and in the meantime you can visit the composer profile, where you will also find an interview with Luc Brewaeys, recorded in 2012 by Simon De Rijcke.
This exhibition will run from 10 March to 12 June 2022, every Thursday through Sunday between 10am and 5pm.
