During the annual midsummer festival AlbaNova - this year on Sunday 30 June - old and contemporary music, young and trained ears meet each other in the picturesque setting of Landcommanderij Alden Biesen.
With the theme 'En Route' the focus this year is on boundlessness, the travelling character and the connections that music makes, across generations and borders.
At AlbaNova we never run out of ideas: singers from Psallentes bring the penitential psalms of Lassus, Jasper Blom provides a skilled touch of jazz improvisation and families are challenged in a musical family circuit. Get acquainted with the high-tech world of Routes du son or drift away to the murmur through the muses and djinns of Imago Mundi. Sonar Quartett blurs boundaries with performances of Turkish-German and German-Turkish string quartets, Zonzo Compagnie takes visitors into the whirling world of Bach and Les Belles Dames Sans Merci shed light on unexpected aspects from the life of artist Artemisia.
