With "Plucked Bach III," Alon Sariel deepens and completes his acclaimed Bach cycle, creating a sonic world characterized by extraordinary refinement and introspection. This concluding installment enriches the series with new colors: another member of the lute family—the Ottoman baglama—and a rare Tuscan-built mandola, whose tuning, an octave lower, gives Johann Sebastian Bach's third cello suite a dark, velvety tone. The archlute, heard at the beginning and end of the album, frames the program with quiet elegance.

Sariel's playing emphasizes that Bach's composition is both architecturally precise and deeply tactile. The album unfolds more as a sequence of finely balanced reflections than as a single dramatic arc. Bach's works—such as the Prelude from the "Well-Tempered Clavier," the "Musette" from the "Notebook for Anna Magdalena," and the Second Violin Partita with its monumental Chaconne—appear in subtly transformed light, their rhythmic pulse and harmonic weight distinctly underscored by the intimacy of plucked strings. Well-known pieces from the harpsichord, violin, and cello repertoire stand alongside rarer works, including those by Westhoff and Matteis, creating a listening experience that glides effortlessly between contemplation, remembrance, and resonance.
