The music of J.S. Bach has always captivated the imagination of musicians across all eras and styles. Refreshing the original material, already worn by reinterpretations, remains an ongoing challenge for every performer. Morphing Landscapes begins its journey through sound and its transformation, shifting focus toward the contemporary moment—not so much from the perspective of timeless content, but regarding timbre and the possibilities we have today to create new suggestions by transforming sound across time. For the cello suites, Robert Schumann devises and writes piano accompaniment. This immediately transforms into repertoire pieces for trombone, and today, in Morphing Landscapes, they are brought to life through mutes and spontaneous dialogue with 20th-century instruments such as the Wurlitzer, Fender Rhodes, and Hammond organ. A transformation of material through timbre and dialogue. Similarly, the content of pieces composed by Eugène Bozza as a tribute to Bach is treated in such a way that new textures emerge, constantly in flux.
