Lodovico Ferronati's compositions, commissioned for the Cappella Musicale of Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo, transform Venetian craftsmanship into civic piety. Through analysis of manuscripts from Bergamo, Vienna, and Dresden, two motets were rediscovered alongside five concertos: "Crudelis Herodes" and "En gratulemur hodie". The string-heavy three-part concertos with clearly defined ritornellos and daring solo passages evoke Vivaldi, yet are no mere imitations. Recorded in the Astino monastery, this release restores a long-lost chapter of Bergamo's musical heritage.
