Young Belgian Talent 2025 is a success!

Five young musicians who are getting closer to the start of their professional careers each day defended themselves during the annual competition Young Belgian Talent in Studio 4 of Flagey (Elsene/Brussels). The competition is still growing, but has meanwhile become an unmistakable reference that offers much support to the laureates until age 25. A commendable initiative that deserves not only praise, but which everyone can wish and hope will live on for many more years. Young talent indeed has a great need for the necessary support, encouragement and discovery of stages.

Door Van Bergen, recently crowned first prize winner (click here) in Avignon, was also the most talented musician among the five laureates. The audience prize went to saxophonist Ties van Echelpoel. The three other laureates were Eduardo Cornago - violin, Jonathan Ide - piano and Matis Griso - cello.

It was Harley Lovegrove, founder of Young Belgian Talent, who announced the results under the watchful eye of artistic director Greet Van 't veld. In the title photo are Door Van Bergen, jury member Bart Debbaut and Ties van Echelpoel.
