Shades of Life is a new album of classical yet modern piano music, featuring a series of pieces in which traditional elements are interwoven with fresh new musical narratives, sharing complexity and accessibility in equal measure.
Storytelling is an important part of the pieces on the album. As the composer indicates in the booklet: "Music often tells a story. It can be about an event in nature, an episode in life or the relationship between two people. Or it can be about the inner feelings you might experience when staring into a campfire, recalling memories of the great journey of life or reflecting on one of its countless facets. Shades of Life is a collection of such stories. Like a butterfly, it explores different flowers in an apparently random manner, from one story to another, each with its own colors, texture and timbre."
