Florentine musicians in the late 16th century strived for the perfect combination of music and poetry with their magnificent intermedii. These entertaining intermezzos, which were inserted into plays following an ancient model, were characterized by a great display of stage and sound equipment. From this combination of music and theater, written by composers such as Peri, Caccini, Monteverdi and Gagliano, opera would soon emerge.
Instead of an impossible reconstruction, Raphaël Pichon devised an imaginary intermedium in which Apollo, Orpheus and Eurydice appear, but above all Amor, Amor, Amor!
