On Saturday 14 October 2023 at 8 pm and Sunday 15 October 2023 at 3 pm you can enjoy Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff. An exceptional concert, a masterpiece that is now more than 90 years old, but more popular than ever. The organisation is in the hands of the concert association Sinfonia Heist vzw in collaboration with the Municipal Academy of Music-Word-Dance and CC Zwaneberg. With the performances of Carl Orff's masterpiece "Carmina Burana", the concert association "Sinfonia Heist vzw" celebrates its ten-year anniversary. The medieval texts, discovered in the Benedictine abbey of Beuern in 1803, are full of criticism of worldly and ecclesiastical authority and sing with an earthy humour the pleasures of nature, the tavern, love and lust. "Wein; Weib und Gesang" Johann Strauss would call it. It is timeless.... This work is brought to you under the direction of André Walschaerts by more than 300 performers. The Diamond Symphonic, choirs and children's choir from, among others, Heist-op-den-Berg, Brussels, Leuven and Zaventem. The vocal soloists are Joris Derder (baritone), Lissa Meyvis (soprano), and Laurens-Alexander Wyns (tenor). Eline Hadermann provides guidance.
