With the performance of the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sinfonia Heist vzw wants to pay tribute to all deceased loved ones.
On behalf of a mysterious intermediary - the real client was Count Franz von Walsing who commissioned this mass for the dead in honor of his deceased wife Anna - Mozart worked on this composition on his deathbed in November 1791. It would become his last, unfinished masterpiece: he died on December 5, 1791.
His former student Franz Xaver Süssmayr completed the work with great respect for Mozart's sketches.
Charlotte Wajnberg (soprano), Aurore Daubrun (mezzo-soprano), Laurens-Alexander Wyns (tenor) and Werner Van Mechelen (bass-baritone), the choirs Omnia Cantica from Zaventem and Arenberg from Leuven, both conducted by Jeffrey Dirix, the Vocal Ensemble of the Heist Academy, prepared by Lydia Van den Berckt, the Diamond Symphonic and conductor André Walschaerts guarantee an unforgettable performance of this beautiful Requiem.
Two more Mozart pearls are programmed:
- the Laudate Dominum ("Praise God-Psalm 117") for soprano, strings and choir.
One of his most well-known church music pieces. It gives us a brilliant soprano solo, alternated with beautiful choir and orchestral work. For many, this hymn of praise is considered the most beautiful thing Mozart ever wrote. - the Ave verum corpus for choir and strings. He wrote it to celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi while composing his opera Die Zauberflöte and during a visit to his pregnant wife Constanze who was carrying their sixth child. Six months later he died.
