In February 2021, when public concerts had been cancelled for several months, the musicians of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne were able to meet each other behind closed doors on the stage of the Opéra de Lausanne to record this disc under the direction of Heinz Holliger. An album from 2013 presented an earlier recording collaboration between the Bernese conductor and the ensemble from Lausanne with two works by Schönberg (Verklärte Nacht and the Kamersymfonie no. 2) and an early work by his student Anton Webern (Langsamer Satz). Nearly ten years later, the same performers come together again and continue to bring these two leading composers of the Second Viennese School into the spotlight.
