"For 10 years we have had beautiful adventures, tours, concerts, rehearsals and friendship. I have truly enjoyed having Gerard and Vera beside me throughout my entire twenties. It has been a wonderful time in which we have all been able to learn so much from each other. I will never forget the period we had together!" - Irene Enzlin
After working together with great pleasure for over 10 years, our cellist Irene Enzlin has decided to focus on projects outside the trio. This means that our paths will go separate ways and Irene will be leaving the trio.
We founded and built the Delta Pianotrio together more than ten years ago and in all those years we never changed our lineup. What an incredibly lot we have experienced. From our first rehearsals and lessons as students in Salzburg to the international competitions and concert tours, rehearsing in stuffy rehearsal rooms, wandering around Chinese airports, eating donuts in a tiny New York hotel room, always on the go with dog and instruments and suitcases, roaring with laughter whenever something went wrong.
We have shared joy and sorrow for 10 years and we will tremendously miss making music with Irene. Fortunately we still see each other regularly and remain close friends. We wish Irene much success and happiness with all her new projects and all the best for the future.
We are delighted and proud to introduce to you the German-Irish cellist Nuala McKenna as the newest cellist of the Delta Pianotrio. We met Nuala a few months ago and were immediately struck by her fantastic playing, her passion for chamber music, her energy and infectious joy in making music. We felt a strong musical affinity from the first note and greatly enjoyed the first concerts together.
Nuala grew up in Northern Germany, studied in Lübeck, Freiburg and Basel and has lived in Amsterdam since 2013. She toured all major Dutch concert halls as a finalist of the Dutch Classical Talent Award and collaborated with musicians such as Maria João Pires, Jean-Guihen Queyras and the Talich Quartett. For her debut CD, Nuala received prestigious awards such as the 'Diapason d'Or' and 'La Clef D'Or ResMusica'; last year she released a successful second CD featuring various 20th-century works for cello and piano. Since 2019, Nuala has been appointed as principal cellist of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and combines this position with performances as a soloist and chamber musician.
We look forward to this new chapter for the trio and all the beautiful musical adventures that lie ahead.
On Monday evening, 29 April, we will officially present the new lineup of the Delta Pianotrio to the audience for the first time. It promises to be a special evening, featuring, among other things, the beautiful Variations Op. 44 by Beethoven, Schumann's first Piano Trio and Schubert's Notturno. After the concert there will be a pleasant reception and the audience will have the opportunity to meet our new cellist in person.
