During the second edition of the Night of Imagination, the boundaries between styles and genres blur and conventional art forms are elevated to another dimension. In S.M.A.K., GUM and MSK, the Night of Imagination is the place par excellence to let imagination speak across artistic domains.From dance and music to performances and installations
During Impromenades, the audience has the opportunity to select paintings while a soundtrack is improvised live by a combination of violin, vibraphone and singing. A singing parliament, in turn, forms the basis for an installation of passing soundscapes of music and natural sounds from all over the world. Ever wondered what Shakespeare would sound like in Flemish? At Late Night Avant-Garde, Stefaan Degand reads translations of his old sonnets as if they were being heard for the first time, in the relaxed atmosphere of a brown café. Casco Phil alternates the centuries-old melodic poems with short concerts, in which all preconceptions of contemporary music are thrown overboard. Advanced technology and electronic music are reconciled with the old-fashioned harmonium in Le Pianographe, an invention by French brothers Florent and Romain Bodart. The audience is encouraged to play the Pianographe and thus produce not only sound, but also image. The Belgian premiere of RUMOR // Unfolding Futures by the collective playField is also on the schedule during the Night of Imagination. At the GUM, visitors are invited to imagine their best possible future. Those visions are compiled on the spot by AI into one shared future perspective. But what if one person's dream turns out to be another's nightmare? In addition to the artistic part, there is also attention to surprising culinary discoveries and an extensive bar.
