Extensive research in the manuscripts of the Vercelli archive has led to the attribution of known and unknown works to Luca Marenzio, one of the great masters of the Italian late Renaissance. These works, recorded here for the first time, share one thing in common: the composer's activity in Rome and Poland. The Missa Jubilate, a parody mass, is one of the finest creations of that time and a masterpiece of melodic invention, while the Magnificat Sexti Toni is an example of Marenzio's refined use of echo effects.
