Galuppi, who was born in Burano near Venice and was also known as *Il Buranello*, is celebrated here in a new light. The sonatas in the first part, based on manuscript sources, reveal the extraordinary versatility of a composer who holds a special place alongside Scarlatti in 18th-century Italian keyboard music.
