The first installment of The Complete Alkan Organ Works features Joseph Nolan's recordings of the major works for organ and pedal piano by Charles-Valentin Alkan, performed on the restored Stahlhuth-Jann organ at St Martin's Church in Dudelange, Luxembourg. The release includes the 11 Grand Preludes and the Handel transcription op. 66, the Petits Préludes sur les huit gammes du plainchant and the Impromptu on Luther's "Ein feste Burg" op. 69.

The booklet provides an overview of Alkan's career, his distinctive place in 19th-century French music, and the technical demands of these rarely recorded pieces. It also documents the history of the instrument and Nolan's long-standing involvement with the project.
