Kotaro Fukuma presents a stunning collection of piano arrangements that combine virtuosity and lyricism. Alongside popular works such as Johann Sebastian Bach's "Ave Maria" arranged by Charles Gounod, Robert Schumann's "Widmung" arranged by Franz Liszt, and Richard Wagner's "Isolde's Liebestod" also arranged by Liszt, the program features Fukuma's own transcription of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" and a medley of French songs ("Chanson Medley"), which topped his fans' wish lists. Fukuma's virtuosity is best showcased in Amilcare Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours" (La Gioconda), arranged by Walter Vleminckx, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers" (The Nutcracker), in Sergei Taneev's version. Leslie Howard's "Réminiscences of Puccini's opera Turandot" (Nessun Dorma!) is being released on CD for the first time. Kotaro Fukuma, winner of the First Prize and the Chopin Prize at the 15th International Piano Competition in Cleveland, has performed in major concert halls throughout Europe and the United States. He has released 20 CDs that have been warmly received. His album "Fantasy – Scriabin & Rachmaninoff" was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) 2024. Since July 2020, he has organized the concert series "Rare Piano Music," in which he presents fellow pianists and rare piano repertoire. Kotaro Fukuma currently splits his time between Berlin, Leiden, and Tokyo.
