After tenor Cyrille Dubois explored lesser-known works for tenor de grâce from the Opéra-Comique repertoire on his multi-award-winning album "So Romantique!" (jpc), he now turns his attention in this new recording to a unique genre: French mélodie with orchestra. "Because I'm deeply interested in the chamber music dimension of music, I was naturally drawn to this form, which is rarely heard on concert programs today. Attention to timbre is crucial here, especially when interpreting such short pieces—an exercise that forms the cornerstone of my approach as a mélodiste," says Dubois. This program, curated by the researchers and editors of the Palazzetto Bru Zane, invites us to rediscover lost treasures of French heritage: refinement, the art of suggestion, delicacy, expressivity—everything here is so poetic!
