With "Prokofiev," Michał Balas turns his attention to one of the most fascinating composers of the 20th century. Serge Prokofiev's music combines expressive power, lyrical depth, and rhythmic vitality – qualities that Balas brings to life with great musical sensitivity and technical brilliance. At the heart of the album lies the Sinfonia Concertante for cello and orchestra, op. 125, a monumental work full of dramatic tension and emotional contrasts. The program is complemented by the colorful Cinderella Suites Nos. 1-3 (op. 107-109), in which Prokofiev's unmistakable musical language shines between fairytale elegance and rhythmic energy.
Michał Balas is accompanied by the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Chuhei Iwasaki, whose sensitive yet powerful interpretation provides the soloist with a rich orchestral framework.
