Clarinetist Chen Hu Jie presents Danish clarinet music from the 19th and 20th centuries in chamber music arrangements. In the works of Holmboe, Roikjer, Bjerre, and Weis, intimate moments are often alternated with virtuosic brilliance. Emil Hartmann's Serenade op. 24 and Thorvald Hansen's Concert Waltz round out the program with salon elegance. The clarinet becomes voice and figure within a distinctive Scandinavian sense of proportion.
