With Rosary Sonatas – Mysteries of Life bring violinist Madoka Nakamaru and organist Wouter Dekoninck the meditative mysteries surrounding life in the Catholic rosary prayer in dialogue with Protestant sounds. They open (alpha) with Buxtehude's Passacaglia – Dekoninck sets the organ in a purifying glow – and then lead through nine finely balanced works: per cycle one Rosenkranz Sonata by Biber, alternating with music by Bach, Buxtehude, or an anonymous contemporary. Catholic and Protestant alternate, just as organ and violin do, solo or in dialogue. The CD ends (omega) with Biber's violin Passacaglia, performed by Nakamaru in a hushed and intense way that deeply moves the listener.

Released by Etcetera in a cardboard sleeve with a beautifully designed booklet, full of liner notes and atmospheric images "you won't find on Spotify," this recording proves that music can heal old dividing lines and invites the listener to contemplation.
