Milestones is a genre-transcending project by violinist Hugo Ticciati and the O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra, bringing together music by Josquin des Prez, Igor Stravinsky, and Miles Davis. Created around shared anniversary years, the album reflects O/Modernt's approach of engaging music from different periods and traditions in direct dialogue. Instrumental arrangements and collaborative performances highlight the connections between Renaissance polyphony, early modernism, and jazz, particularly in their treatment of rhythm, texture, and improvisation. The project, recorded in Germany and the United Kingdom in 2021, documents an ensemble-focused method emphasizing attentive listening, flexible roles for soloists, and shared musicianship across stylistic boundaries.
