1621 was the year one of Europe's most influential composers exchanged the temporal for the eternal: Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1561-1621), who with his knowledge and craftsmanship inspired an entire generation of musicians. That same year, one of his students – Samuel Scheidt (1587-1654) – achieved great success with the public with his *Ludi musici*. The recorder ensemble AS TIME GOES BY – A New Consort of Music from Vienna presents this music in an exceptionally engaging and illuminating interpretation that brings the nuances and details of these lively compositions to light.
