Sébastien Daucé came to Cavalli through René Jacobs. His 1994 recording of La Calisto for harmonia mundi raised the bar for Daucé. This new recording of the blend of fable, comedy and tragedy was made in 2025 at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.
Reviews
"Sébastien Daucé has completely reimagined the score of La Calisto: 35 instrumentalists instead of 6 as at the opera's premiere in Venice in 1651. Under his lively, fluid direction, always attentive to the finest tonal nuances, the Ensemble Correspondances has simply worked wonders." (Le Monde)
