Sebastian Berner is one of the most outstanding trumpet players of his generation: in 2022 he won first prize at the International Maurice André Competition in Paris and he is principal trumpet of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt. While Henri Tomasi's Trumpet Concerto from 1948 is fairly well-known, the Concertino for Trumpet and Orchestra by Belgian composer Joseph Jongen from 1913 is heard far less frequently, and the concerto by his student Léon Stekke from July 1937 is recorded here for the first time. Another world premiere is Les Chants de Kervéléan by Charles Koechlin, which was transcribed for trumpet and orchestra by Robert Orlidge in 2008. Finally, Florent Schmitt's three-part Suite had its world premiere in 1956 with Maurice André in its orchestral version.
