Trio Gaspard is one of the most sought-after young chamber music ensembles of its kind and is praised for its unique and fresh approach to the score. A recent recording led The Times to conclude: 'Kaleidoscopic textures and sparkling wit, beautifully conveyed by Trio Gaspard … a joy to listen to'. The trio was founded in 2010, its members come from Germany, Greece, and Great Britain and all studied at the European Chamber Music Academy in Vienna. Joseph Haydn's music has played a central role in their repertoire for the past fifteen years, and they rarely give a concert without performing one of his works. Trio Gaspard writes: "In this series of recordings, we present Haydn's rich output for piano trio neither chronologically nor in the order in which the works were first published. Like the previous CDs, Volume 5 is conceived as a program of contrasting trios that can be heard in one sitting.
