The ever-curious musicians of the Voce Quartet were once again seeking new horizons and fell in love with the music of this Latin American country during their concert tours through Argentina. In Buenos Aires and Rosario, they regularly attended traditional folk music and dance venues, known as peñas and milongas, and had exciting sessions with the renowned Dino Saluzzi… Ultimately, they decided to commission composers Fernando Fiszbein, Gabriel Sivak, and Jean-Baptiste Henry to write music and arrangements for the Voce Quartet. They perform these pieces together with the great Argentine guitarist Pablo Márquez and Jean-Baptiste Henry on the bandoneon. The colorful program features tangos, but also samba, chacarera, cueca, baguala, and a tribute to Piazzolla (Four for Tango for string quartet) and Alberto Ginastera, whose first string quartet and guitar sonata are heard here.
