Consobrinae, Latin for cousins, symbolizes the relationship between the two instruments on this album: theorbo and cello. Giovanni Bellini and Hermine Horiot have woven the program of this recording like an ancient tapestry, with their two instruments and the composers who dedicated works to them as their guide. Alongside several outstanding world premieres, the two instruments are heard in duets and solos in a carefully balanced program where the harmony between the two musicians is fully expressed, leading naturally and with great musical vitality through France and Italy, from one century to the next.
