This recording is devoted to Antonio Vivaldi's extraordinary works for bassoon and illuminates these works in light of their autograph tradition. Based on the Turin manuscripts, a historically informed interpretation unfolds that impressively makes audible the tonal variety and virtuosity of the bassoon in Vivaldi's late works. Miho Fukui performs concertos for Baroque bassoon and Baroque oboe together with Ensemble F, thereby following Vivaldi's practice of flexibly arranging solo parts among the central reed instruments of his time. Performed on historical instruments and supported by current musicological research, this recording combines source study with vibrant musical expressivity—and opens authentic access to one of the most fascinating groups of works by the Venetian master.
