In Großfahner, approximately 20 kilometers northwest of Erfurt, numerous musical manuscripts dating between 1681 and 1727 were discovered in 1968 during roof repairs at the church. The sacred works by Fr. Troll and Johann Theodor Roemhildt, recorded here for the first time, stand alongside the anonymous Concerto a flauto concertante, preserved in a copy by Pisendel, and the organ chorales by Johann Gottfried Walther and Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow, Handel's teacher. The soloists, choir, and orchestra of I Contrappuntisti present a richly orchestrated liturgical cycle from Christmas through Easter.
