Hardly any event of the Mozart Week is as memorable for visitors as the 1994 production "Ombra felice". Mozart's remarkable creative abundance in the field of opera is evident not only in fragments from stage works such as "Zaide" K. 344, "L'oca del Cairo" K. 422 or "Lo sposo deluso" K. 430, but also in the more than seventy arias and ensembles he composed as individual works. Some of these are abandoned or never completed designs, because Mozart's singers (or sometimes Mozart himself) were not entirely satisfied with them, while others were contributions to other people's opera productions, which at that time were often performed in the form of pasticcios in many places. This album's comprehensive compilation thus provides a good overview of Mozart's aria output.
