This album by pianist Reinis Zarins and Trio Palladio is a special personal tribute to composer Arvo Pärt, one of the most influential composers of our time. The album features Pärt's timeless piano works and a selection of his chamber music, including the celebrated "For Alina", "Fratres" and "Mirror in the Mirror", along with his early works. The program also includes two works by Latvian composers, Georgs Pelecis and Andrejs Selickis, both of whom have been profoundly influenced by Arvo Pärt's example and ideas. These two pieces, composed in 2025 for Arvo Pärt's 90th birthday, are presented here in their world premiere recording. Since making his concert debut at age nine, Latvian pianist Reinis Zarins has performed as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician throughout Europe, North America and the Far East. He has participated in prestigious music festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, and his thoughtful virtuosity has captivated audiences at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and other venues. Reinis has collaborated with leading orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra and with world-class conductors. He regularly performs in his native Latvia and has received the Grand Music Award of his country five times, as well as the Order of the Three Stars. Trio Palladio consists of three leading Latvian soloists, dedicated chamber musicians and critically acclaimed recording artists: violinist Eva Bindere, cellist Kristina Blaumane and pianist Reinis Zarins. All three are winners of Latvia's Grand Music Prize, and in 2024 they received this prestigious award as a trio. Their debut album – Peteris Vasks' Music for Piano Trio – was named Gramophone Editor's Choice. Trio Palladio is known for its conceptual programs featuring classical, romantic and contemporary works, with special focus on music by Latvian and Baltic composers.
