The Tallis Scholars
The Tallis Scholars are a British chamber choir, founded by Peter Phillips in 1973 and named after Thomas Tallis. The ensemble consists of about ten singers and specialises in early music.
Over the years, The Tallis Scholars have built a strong reputation as interpreters of vocal music from the period between 1450 and 1600. They release most of their work on their own label, Gimell Records. Some members are also active as academics in the field of musicology. On average, they tour the United States twice a year and Japan every two years. Andrew Grant is active as organist of the Chapel Royal.
Since 2000, The Tallis Scholars have organised masterclasses for amateurs and professionals in Oakham, Seattle and Sydney.
