The essence of French lute music from the 17th and 18th centuries! This is a collection of the essence of French lute music from the 17th and early 18th centuries. In addition to solo pieces by lute virtuosos such as Jacques Gallo and Robert de Vizier, this cd contains keyboard masterworks by François Couperin and Jean-Philippe Rameau in lute arrangements that convey musical nuances more richly. In 17th-century France, the culture of the "précieuses", female intellectuals who were active in art salons, was reflected in their music. This album also contains a world premiere recording of Mademoiselle Boquet, who was active in 17th-century Parisian salons.
