John Williams - Never Heard Before! Star Wars. The Geisha. Schindler's List. In a Far Land. E.T.. The list goes on: the legendary film composer John Williams has been considered the most celebrated film composer of all time for decades. But the album John Williams Reimagined is Williams as never heard before. Film music producer Robert Townson had a "dream ensemble" in mind for this project: flutist Sara Andon, cellist Cécilia Tsan and pianist Simone Pedroni. He commissioned Pedroni to create transcriptions, record them as a trio and send them to the composer. To their great delight, Williams approved the project and gave the trio permission to record and perform the entire set exclusively. The selections span more than half a century - from Williams' Emmy-winning score for Jane Eyre from 1970, which originally inspired Townson to write this album, to the main theme from The Fabelmans from 2022, one of more than two dozen collaborations between Williams and Spielberg. From the canon of iconic Williams scores from this period, the album contains selections from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, A. I. Artificial Intelligence, The Witches of Eastwick, Jurassic Park, The Travels of Mr Leary, Dracula, The Sugarland Express, Jane Eyre, Companions, Hook, The Patriot and more, not to mention the Star Wars saga, Schindler's List and E.T.. In 2022, during recording sessions in Los Angeles, John Williams invited the trio to perform privately in his studio a selection of the new arrangements for him. After the performance of "The Face of Pan" from Hook, the composer said, deeply moved: "This is one of my best birthday gifts".
