John Williams - pas gehoord! Star Wars. De Geisha. Schindler's List. In een ver land. E.T.. De lijst gaat maar door: de legendarische filmcomponist John Williams wordt al tientallen jaren beschouwd als de meest gevierde filmcomponist aller tijden. Maar het album John Williams Reimagined is Williams zoals hij nog nooit eerder is gehoord. Filmmuziekproducent Robert Townson had voor dit project een "droomensemble" in gedachten: fluitiste Sara Andon, celliste Cécilia Tsan en pianiste Simone Pedroni. Hij gaf Pedroni de opdracht om transcripties te maken, ze op te nemen als trio en ze naar de componist te sturen. Tot hun grote vreugde keurde Williams het project goed en gaf het trio toestemming om de hele set exclusief op te nemen en uit te voeren. De selecties beslaan meer dan een halve eeuw - van Williams Emmy-winnende score voor Jane Eyre uit 1970, die Townson oorspronkelijk inspireerde om dit album te schrijven, tot het hoofdthema van The Fabelmans uit 2022, een van de meer dan twee dozijn samenwerkingen tussen Williams en Spielberg. Uit de canon van iconische Williams-scores uit deze periode bevat het album selecties uit Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, A. I. Artificial Intelligence, The Witches of Eastwick, Jurassic Park, The Travels of Mr Leary, Dracula, The Sugarland Express, Jane Eyre, Companions, Hook, The Patriot en meer, om nog maar te zwijgen van de Star Wars saga, Schindler's List en E.. T... in 2022, tijdens de opnamesessies in Los Angeles, nodigde John Williams het trio uit om privé in zijn studio een selectie van de nieuwe arrangementen voor hem uit te voeren. Na de uitvoering van "The Face of Pan" uit Hook zei de componist diep ontroerd: "Dit is een van mijn beste verjaardagscadeaus".
