A Screenshot of Now

Alexander Chance, Tim Mead, Daniel Norman

Format: Digital

With A Screenshot of Now, guitarist and composer Giacomo Susani presents a new song cycle in which he sets poems by Chinwe D. John to music. Screenshot of Now consists of 14 poems by the author, who also works as a physician, for which Susani has written music for voice and guitar. The music, recorded here for the first time, is designed to reveal the deepest symbolic layers of the texts and weave sound and words together so closely that they become inseparable. Each poem thematizes aspects of modern life: the destructive force of world politics, the breaking of family bonds, freedom, the seductive beauty of nature, love in the chaos of the world, escaping oppression, or a biting satire on the "pirates" of our time. Ultimately, there is a gentle reminder that simple pleasures lose nothing of their power despite all technological upheavals. Three first-class singers share the solo parts: Alexander Chance, Tim Mead and Daniel Norman; Giacomo Susani himself accompanies on the guitar.
