Pablo Heras-Casado
Pablo Heras-Casado (Granada, 21 November 1977) is a Spanish conductor.
Heras-Casado studied at the conservatory in Granada. At the Universidad de Granada, he studied art and history. He completed his training as a conductor at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares. Among his teachers were Christopher Hogwood and Harry Christophers.
The repertoire of conductor Pablo Heras-Casado encompasses major symphonic works and operas, both with historically informed performances and on modern instruments, from baroque to contemporary.
In the 2017/2018 season, Heras-Casado returned to the Staatskapelle Berlin where he made his debut at the Boulezsaal and performed among others with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, St. Luke's Orchestra where he was chief conductor from 2011 to 2017, Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Philharmoniker.
In 2018 he was appointed director of the Granada Festival and was first guest conductor at the Teatro Real in Madrid. He has long collaborated with the Freiburger Barockorchester and made numerous tours and CD recordings with the ensemble.
In January 2019, Heras-Casado will conduct Wagner's Das Rheingold at the Teatro Real in Madrid, with which he begins his very first Ring cycle.
Heras-Casado has conducted a large number of CD recordings that have been awarded prizes, including the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Diapason d'Or, and a Grammy.
