John Williams - noch nicht gehört! Star Wars. Die Geisha. Schindler's List. In einem fernen Land. E.T.. Die Liste geht weiter: Der legendäre Filmkomponist John Williams wird seit Jahrzehnten als der gefeiertste Filmkomponist aller Zeiten angesehen. Aber das Album John Williams Reimagined ist Williams, wie er noch nie zuvor gehört wurde. Filmmusikproduzent Robert Townson hatte für dieses Projekt ein "Traumensemble" im Sinn: Flötistin Sara Andon, Cellistin Cécilia Tsan und Pianistin Simone Pedroni. Er gab Pedroni den Auftrag, Transkriptionen anzufertigen, sie als Trio aufzunehmen und sie an den Komponisten zu schicken. Zu ihrer großen Freude billigte Williams das Projekt und gab dem Trio die Erlaubnis, den gesamten Satz exklusiv aufzunehmen und aufzuführen. Die Auswahl erstreckt sich über mehr als ein halbes Jahrhundert - von Williams preisgekröntem Score für Jane Eyre aus dem Jahr 1970, das Townson ursprünglich inspirierte, dieses Album zu schreiben, bis zum Hauptthema von The Fabelmans aus dem Jahr 2022, einer von mehr als zwei Dutzend Zusammenarbeiten zwischen Williams und Spielberg. Aus dem Kanon ikonischer Williams-Scores aus diesem Zeitraum enthält das Album Auszüge aus Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, A. I. Artificial Intelligence, The Witches of Eastwick, Jurassic Park, The Travels of Mr Leary, Dracula, The Sugarland Express, Jane Eyre, Companions, Hook, The Patriot und mehr, ganz zu schweigen von der Star Wars saga, Schindler's List und E.T.. Im Jahr 2022, während der Aufnahmesitzungen in Los Angeles, lud John Williams das Trio ein, eine Auswahl der neuen Arrangements für ihn privat in seinem Studio aufzuführen. Nach der Aufführung von "The Face of Pan" aus Hook sagte der Komponist zutiefst bewegt: "Dies ist einer meiner besten Geburtstagsgeschenke".
