Scaramuccia - The Prince's Violin
Saturday 23 January 2027, 20:00
Concert
Around 1770, music that was not intended for the general public resounded in the private chambers of the Madrid court. Cayetano Brunetti composed violin sonatas exclusively for the Prince of Asturias, the future King Carlos IV, written for his personal use and tailored to his musical education. These are works that balance between refinement and intimacy, between virtuosity and elegance.
In De viool van de prins, Scaramuccia brings this exceptional court music back to life. Brunetti's sonatas unfold as music for closeness, in which detail, color and expression take center stage. They reveal how the violin at the Spanish court was not only an instrument, but also a carrier of personal musicality.
The addition of music by Luigi Boccherini places this repertoire in a broader court context. His sonata seamlessly connects with the atmosphere and character of Brunetti's works and reinforces the image of a musical world in which subtlety and personal expression are paramount.
De viool van de prins offers a glimpse into a musical world in which refinement and intimacy go hand in hand, and in which music sounds as it was once intended: close, personal and without detours.
