Mozart's favourite piano concertos, nos. 21 & 24 Of the more than twenty piano concertos that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed, only two are in minor. The Piano Concerto no. 24 in c, KV 491 is considered one of his most advanced works in the genre, deeply beloved by Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms. Mozart completed it in March 1786, just before the premiere of Le nozze di Figaro. Two works that flank each other in the Köchel Verzeichnis, but which differ completely: the opera rejoices, the concerto seethes. The Piano Concerto no. 21 in C, KV 467, originated a year earlier, in March 1785. Mozart is then in his early thirties and at the peak of his abilities. Between the two pianistic milestones, Haydn makes the sun rise with his sparkling Symphony no. 6 'Le matin'. It is canonical classical music, in excellent hands with the golden duo Il Gardellino & Pashchenko: cascading contrasts, brio without pretension and endless narrative power. Programme: W.A. Mozart: Piano Concerto no. 21 in C, KV 467 | Piano Concerto no. 24 in c, KV 491 | J. Haydn: Symphony no. 6 in D, Hob.I:6 'Le matin'
