Concert De Bijloke - Gents Universitair Symfonisch Orkest (GUSO)
Tuesday 8 December 2026, 20:00
Concert
The autumn concerts of the Gents Universitair Symfonisch Orkest (GUSO) are coming up! Some sixty dedicated students and musicians are working towards two splendid concert evenings in Ghent this semester.
Under the direction of conductor Steven Decraene, the orchestra presents a varied programme with three works, each with its own character:
- Josef Suk – Scherzo fantastique
- A lesser-known but particularly colourful and energetic work composed by the son-in-law of Antonín Dvořák.
- Camille Saint-Saëns – Rondo capriccioso
- A virtuosic work for violin and orchestra, with Sarah Vanderpijpen as soloist. Sarah was our beloved concertmaster last year and returns this year as soloist.
- Antonín Dvořák – Symphony No. 7
- A powerful, well-known and captivating symphony with which we close the evening.
Whether you are an avid lover of classical music or simply in the mood for a beautiful evening of live music: everyone is welcome! The atmosphere at a GUSO concert can be felt by everyone!
