This cd-recording is an experiment. I have been researching the performance practice of the flute at the beginning of the 19th century for about 15 years now, and a few years ago the end of the 19th century also came into view. The more I read about this period, the more I realized how much our performance practice differs today from that of the past. It is not only the instruments from that period that make the difference, but also the playing style of that time, which you rarely hear nowadays. Inspired by the sources, I seek new ways of interpretation, new ways of expression, without wanting to copy a particular playing style from that time. This quest as a soloist with L'arpa festante and Korneel Bernolet was a great honour and a great satisfaction for me. I was able to realize my musical ideas in a symphonic setting and explore the boundaries. The result was a snapshot in time. Tomorrow it could sound completely different again. (Anna Pustlauk)
