Refound

With his recital debut "Refound", British countertenor Hugh Cutting and pianist Audrey Hyland celebrate the rediscovery and reinterpretation of very special songs. The programme focuses on works by 14 composers that unite the old and the new in their construction, text or context and testify to the beauty of interpretation and revival. Folk songs by Ravel and Vaughan Williams, songs by Howells and Dvorak with old texts are alternated with pieces by Wolf and Hahn that evoke distant, imagined times. Beach, Rodrigo and Lama deal with romantic partings and their consequences. This programme is supplemented by the beautiful music of Mel Bonis, a world premiere recording of Piers Connor Kennedy and Jeremy Sams' new English translation of Schubert's "Abschied von der Erde".
