In the autumn of 1725, when France celebrated the marriage of Louis XV with Marie Leszczynska, the French ambassador in Venice commissioned Vivaldi to compose a serenata in honour of the young royal couple. This occasion led to a magnificent work, carried by two allegorical figures: Imeneo, the god of marriage, and Gloria, the radiant embodiment of French grandeur. The two alternately raise their voices, answer each other, compete gracefully in virtuosity - and ultimately unite in a glorious final duet that seals their tribute in perfect harmony. Logan Lopez Gonzalez and Nicolo Balducci express these roles with elegance and subtlety, allowing Vivaldi's music to shine.
