Armenian chants
Seda Amir-Karayan, Camerata Vivaldiana, Fritz Krämer
Compelling Contrast
Bach's solo cantatas for alto voice not only display extraordinary musical variety, but also make the highest demands on the virtuosity of the singing voice. The exceptional Armenian alto Seda Amir-Karayan combines these cantatas here with ancient, simple liturgical a capella songs from her homeland, which on the one hand form a compelling contrast, but on the other hand in their spiritual essence stand remarkably close to the cantatas of the Thomascantor. She is accompanied by the baroque orchestra Camerata Vivaldiana under Fritz Krämer.
